Meet O.O.P.S.: co-op horror with a hands-on problem

O.O.P.S. stands for Operational Oversight & Paranormal Services. It is an independent, physics-based multiplayer co-op horror game being developed in Unreal Engine by Vojin Živković.

Your crew is part of the puzzle

The game puts physical interaction at the centre of cooperation. You can pick up, throw and carry objects, share tools and help teammates get through dangerous environments. The current prototype includes multiplayer door interactions, pressure plates, cables, welding tools and player revival.

These are situations where a teammate has something practical to do: hold an opening, carry an object or help recover another player. The comedy comes from trying to coordinate when the world is physically unpredictable.

Watch the work in progress

The footage shared on this site comes from development builds. It shows mechanics being tested rather than a finished release. Visuals, balance and individual features may change as development continues.

Watch the multiplayer pressure-plate prototype on YouTube, or see the welding tool in multiplayer.

What happens next?

O.O.P.S. is still in development. The Steam page is coming soon, so wishlisting is not available yet. There is no announced release date. This blog will be the place for gameplay spotlights and development announcements as the project moves forward.

Losing your head is a team problem

By Vojin Živković · Developer of O.O.P.S.

Player revival prototype in O.O.P.S.

In O.O.P.S., player recovery is a physical task for the crew. The current death and revival system involves detached body parts, giving surviving teammates something to find, carry and bring back into play.

Recovery you can get your hands on

The game already centres on moving objects and interacting with other players. Revival extends that idea to your teammates themselves. A fallen player creates a new shared objective, and the crew has to deal with the consequences together.

That fits the wider direction of O.O.P.S.: horror with frequent player interaction and the potential for things to go physically wrong. Carrying equipment is one job. Recovering a friend’s head is a much stranger one.

See the prototype

Watch the multiplayer revival clip on YouTube for a look at the current implementation. There is also a separate revival mechanic demonstration.

Both clips are work-in-progress demonstrations. They document the feature as it exists during development and should not be treated as a promise of final visuals, tuning or release content.

Follow the build

The game remains in development, and its Steam page is coming soon. Future field notes can follow the tools, obstacles and interactions that make a routine job a team problem.
